Generic Conventions of Rock magazines.


Front Cover
·        Always 1 main image in the middle of the front cover.
·        The colour scheme is always black, white and red.
·        There is always a list of groups or artists along either the right or left.
·        The name of the artist or group is always over the image of them.
·        The title of the magazine is behind the celebrity generally.
·        There is a ‘splash’ in the top right corner of the magazine.
·        The writing surrounding the celebrity is generally a different colour to the rest of the colours on the page to be less associated with the rest of the page.
·        The colour of the background is plain white to help the artist or group to stand out as well as the title.

Contents Page
·        The column for page numbers is always on the left or right never through the middle.
·        There is never all of the page numbers in the column.
·        The date is always underneath the title of the contents page.
·        The website is in the page.
·        There is an image that relates to their top story and is placed on the top of the page.
·        Columns are sectioned off into straplines when going onto another topic.
·        A review of some kind; artists, albums or new comings.
·        The colours are all the same as the front cover to link.
·        The background is white to help the stories, page numbers and image to stand out from the rest.
·        There is credit given to the photographer and article writer.

Double Page Spread
·        The font for the title is always associated with the topic of the story.
·        The general colours are black, white and red, the same as the contents page and the front cover.
·        The start of the articles letter is always in a larger size to the rest of the writing.
·        The background is generally plain white to help the celebrity to stand out and for the story to stand out too.
·        The image is a larger scale compared to the text in all to help keep the audience interested in reading the story.
·        The text is small so that there are more words typed in but into a more compressed space.
·        A quote is normally the title of the page to start off the story.
